Colour and grace in equal measure

Three languages, a narrow shelf of interests, and zero tolerance for small talk that goes nowhere. Tetty is the sort of person who will spend forty minutes on a single subject — Bahian modernism, a documentary about deep-sea cables, the particular acoustics of a chapel she once visited in Lisbon — then cut a dull thread mid-breath without apology. Her mind moves in focused lines, not wide circles. Twenty-six, Brazilian, based near Gloucester Road. She knows South Kensington on foot better than most locals — which mews cut through, which café stays quiet past eleven, where to sit in the V&A without being interrupted. She keeps a list of bookshops on her phone, organised by language. The Vauxhall one is her favourite detour. Her voice stays low until she disagrees. Then it firms, lands precisely, and usually wins — though she's funny enough about it that you end up conceding with a grin rather than a bruise. She dresses in warm tones, burgundy and ochre, the same palette every time, as though the question was settled long ago. Silences beside her feel intentional rather than awkward. Conversations end when they should, not when someone panics and fills the gap. You leave feeling edited down to your better hours.
